Troubleshooting Your AI Connection
Most problems come down to one of three things: the connection's permissions, your role, or whether an app is installed. Here's what to check.
The assistant says it can't do something
Check, in this order:
- Your connection's permissions. Open My Profile > Integrations and look at the connection's Access column. If the permission you need isn't there, or you connected a workspace at Read, disconnect and reconnect with it included. See Managing and Disconnecting AI Connections.
- Your role. An assistant can never do more than you can. If you can't do it in ContactDrive yourself, ask a workspace admin.
- Whether it's something no connection can do. Deleting, sending email, publishing dashboards, importing, exporting, spending credits, and managing billing, users, or roles all stay in ContactDrive. See Using ContactDrive with AI Assistants.
An app's abilities are missing
Tasks, Lists, Connect, Email Marketing, and Dashboard abilities only appear when the app is installed in that workspace and its permissions were granted when you connected. Install the app from Apps, then start a new chat. If that doesn't help, reconnect and make sure the app's permission group is ticked. See Using ContactDrive Apps Through Your AI Assistant.
The assistant keeps asking which workspace
That's expected when one connection covers several workspaces. The assistant won't guess, so a change never lands in the wrong workspace. Name the workspace in your request, for example "In the Riverside workspace…".
It can't write to a workspace
If a workspace's trial has ended, it's read-only. You can connect it at Read, and existing connections keep read access, but nothing can write to it until the workspace is on a plan again. See Plans.
Some contacts are missing emails or phone numbers
Contacts flagged as protected never show their email addresses or phone numbers to an AI connection, whatever your role.
A count looks off by a day
Date calculations use whole days in UTC. Around midnight, UTC can differ from your local date. Say which dates you mean, for example "from September 1 through September 30".
It stopped working after a while
- It hasn't been used in 30 days. The connection expired. Reconnect from your assistant.
- It was disconnected. Check My Profile > Integrations. If it isn't listed, reconnect.
- You were removed from the workspace. The connection loses access to that workspace straight away.
The sign-in window didn't open or went to an error
- Allow pop-ups for your assistant's site, then try connecting again.
- If you see Authorization error, click Return to ContactDrive, make sure you can sign in normally, then start again from your assistant.
- On the consent screen, Approve stays disabled until you give at least one workspace Read or Read and write, and leave at least one permission ticked.
- If the screen says You don't belong to any workspace yet, you need an invitation to a workspace first.
It says there are too many requests
Each workspace has a limit on how many requests it accepts per minute. Wait a minute and ask again. If a single request is working through many records, ask the assistant to take it in smaller batches.
