Managing Contacts

After you have imported a list, or manually entered some contacts into your ContactDrive account, there are countless ways to slice, dice, view, and manage the people you know to reach your goals.

Customizing the View

To begin, your contacts are displayed in five columns - Name, email, phone, location, and tags. To add, remove, re-order these columns, click on the aptly named "columns" button on the right of the grid. Click the columns you want displayed including custom fields (more on those later). Be sure to hit Apply when finished. Want to have location in the first column instead of name? Change the order of columns with a simple click and drag.

Saving Views

Once you have the columns and/or filters the way you want them, click on the Views button near the top right of the grid to save this View for future log in sessions. This also lets you quickly change from frequent searches over time.

Exporting

Once you have the view the way you like it, click on the Actions button near the top right of the grid, then drop down to "Export Contacts." Note: this will only export the current view in the order and with the filters as they are displayed at the moment you click the button, so make sure you have the data you're looking for before you click submit.

Filtering

Want everyone in a certain location, but only those that fulfill certain other criteria? Maybe you want all donors in the past 30 days, excluding those who live in your zip code. For cases like this, you'll want to click on the Filters button (just below the Columns button)

Merging

We work hard to cut down on duplicate contacts - for more on that process, see this help doc - but if you come across a duplicate, check the two boxes you want to merge, and click the dropdown arrow next to Actions, then Merge Contacts. On the pop-up window, evaluate what the correct merged data should be, then click the blue button at the bottom.
